Glass Door Display Coolers
Retail display coolers built in Lithia Springs, Georgia, since 1979.
A glass door display cooler is a walk-in that your customer shops from the sales floor and your staff stocks from inside. Product stays cold and lit behind glass, restocking happens out of sight instead of in the aisle, and every door facing sits at eye level.
Southeast Cooler builds them as custom enclosures sized to your store, in runs as long as your merchandising plan needs.

What We Need to Spec Your Cooler
Rough numbers are fine to start. We’ll confirm everything on the approved drawing set before anything is built. Send us:
- Wall length available for the glass doors. The run the door bank will fill, in feet and inches.
- Depth available behind that wall. How far back the cooler can extend before it hits the next wall, a column or a walkway.
- Ceiling height at the installation point. Allow 2″ of clearance between the cooler panels and the existing ceiling and walls.
- Number of glass doors. And whether you want refrigerated doors only, or a refrigerated-to-frozen run with a freezer section.
- Staff entry door location. Back wall or side wall, and which side.
- Floor. Concrete slab or other, and whether the cooler needs its own floor panel.
- Anything in the way. Columns, ductwork, sprinkler heads, electrical panels, floor drains.
- Refrigeration location. Roof access for a remote condensing unit, or no roof access (self-contained top-mount).
- What you’re merchandising and the temperature you need to hold.

Stocked From Behind, Shopped From the Front
This is the difference between a display cooler and a row of reach-ins, and it’s the reason retailers build them.
Restocking happens out of the customer’s way.
Staff load product from inside the cooler, so the aisle stays clear during business hours. No carts parked in front of the doors, no blocked door facings, no restocking around customers at peak hours.
Every door facing faces forward.
Product is loaded from the back and pulled forward to the glass, so the display faces stay full without anyone fronting shelves between deliveries.
Storage and display in the same footprint
The space behind the doors is working cold storage. A display cooler gives you back-stock capacity and sales floor presentation in one enclosure instead of a display case out front and a walk-in in the back.
Sized to the wall you actually have
Enclosure sections can be constructed in any size to accommodate your requirements, and one-piece panels are available up to 30 ft in height.
Doors, Lighting & Merchandising

Glass Doors with Auto-Close Returns
Attractive displays use glass doors with auto-close return features. The return pulls each door shut behind the customer, protecting your temperature and energy bill across hundreds of openings a day.

Product Lighting that Increases Purchases
Lighted displays draw attention and increase impulse purchases. On a display cooler, the lighting spec isn’t a detail; it’s most of why the cooler exists.

Shelving Packages to Display Retail Products
Southeast Cooler’s custom glass display doors are available with lighting and shelving packages built for retail merchandising.
Integrating With Your Store Build-Out

Recessed cut-outs and special access doors
Custom designs allow for recessed cut-outs and special access doors, so the cooler can be built into an existing wall line rather than standing proud of it.
Flush-fitting access doors
A recessed access door sits flush-fitting with the display case, which keeps your stocking entrance from interrupting the merchandising line. From the sales floor, it reads as part of the run.
Finishes that match the build-out
The customer-facing exterior and the working interior can be finished differently. Most retailers spec the exterior to match the store and use a lower-cost interior finish behind the doors.
What Retailers Merchandise Behind Glass
- Beverages: Soft drinks, water, energy, sports drinks, single-serve
- Dairy: Milk, eggs, yogurt, cultured
- Grab-and-go: Sandwiches, salads, prepared foods
- Packaged beer and beverage alcohol: See beer caves and beer vaults
- Frozen: Ice cream, novelties, frozen meals, ice
Cooler and freezer doors can run in one continuous line, so refrigerated and frozen product read as a single merchandising wall rather than two separate coolers.

How Our Display Coolers Are Built
Display coolers use the same panel system as every Southeast Cooler walk-in: prefabricated modular panels in metal-clad extruded polystyrene or urethane insulation, 4″ and 6″ thicknesses, joined with cam-lock fasteners and tongue-and-groove edges for a tight, well-insulated joint at every seam. Full-width panels are 47″ wide, with narrow panels in various widths as required.
Standard floor panels use an .080 aluminum interior skin and carry uniformly distributed loads up to 600 pounds per square foot, with optional reinforced floors recommended when using mobile carts or dollies, which is worth specifying on a display cooler, since restocking means cart traffic through the same doorway every day. Aluminum diamond plate protection is available for floors and lower panel sections in the stocking aisle and service doorway.
Installation
A complete approved set of drawings is supplied with every unit. Wall panels must be level on installation, with a 2″ clearance allowed between the wall panels and the existing room walls and ceiling. All panels are tagged with easy-to-read part numbers for a smooth and rapid installation.
Display coolers are usually built into an operating store, so the drawing set has to be coordinated against the existing wall line, the display case elevations, the electrical, and the planogram before anything ships.
Warranty & Repair
Southeast Cooler guarantees the panels to be free from defects in material or workmanship under normal use and service. In the event of failure, Southeast Cooler shall be limited to repairing or replacing with a like panel section, after our inspection, if it proves defective and cannot be placed back in operation with normal service efforts. (F.O.B. Factory Lithia Springs, GA).
The warranty is in force for five (5) years from the date of original shipment. Southeast Cooler’s obligation on items not manufactured by Southeast Cooler shall be limited only to the extent of the warranty extended to Southeast Cooler by that manufacturer.
This warranty does not apply to equipment which has been subject to removal from the original installation site, dismantled and rebuilt, or subjected to any accident, alterations by unauthorized service, negligence, misuse, or improper installation. This warranty does not include any labor or mileage charges for replacement or repair of defective panels.
Southeast Cooler extends the warranty to the original purchaser or user, which shall be deemed to mean the individual who originally purchased the product or the company where the product was originally installed. The warranty applies only within the continental boundaries of the United States, its territories and possessions, and Canada.
In the interest of continued product improvement, we reserve the right to change specifications without notice.

It’s a walk-in cooler with lighted glass doors facing the sales floor. Customers shop through the glass while staff stocks the same product from inside the cooler, so the cooler serves as display and back-stock storage at once.
A reach-in is a self-contained cabinet loaded from the front, in the aisle, during business hours. A display cooler is a walk-in enclosure loaded from behind, so restocking never blocks the sales floor and the space behind the doors is usable cold storage.
Enclosure sections can be constructed in any size to accommodate your requirements, and one-piece panels are available up to 30 ft high, so long runs don’t need to be broken up. Send us your wall length and door count, and we’ll spec it.
